Children's Week 2010 is an annual
festival to be celebrated from Friday 22 to Sunday
31 October. The Children's Week Association of South
Australia is affiliated with the Children's Week Council
of Australia. The National Patron is Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, the Governor-General
of the Commonwealth of Australia and our Patron is
Mrs Liz Scarce, wife of the Governor of South Australia.
Mrs Mem Fox AM will be invited once again to be the
State Ambassador along with Jane Reilly, presenter
at Channel 10.
The official launch of Children's Week 2010 will be
held on Friday 22 October.
A diverse range of healthy lifestyle activities will
be held throughout the state that focus attention of
the wider community on children, in particular issues
of health, recreation, sport, child care, education,
cultural, social and emotional needs and the recognition
of children's achievements.
Children's Week has been celebrated in South Australia
for the past 31 years and once again is supported by
the Government of South Australia (Department of Education
and Children's Services) and the Federal Department
of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
Throughout this nearly two weeks of frenetic
activity, thousands of children will have the chance
to celebrate their own achievements, display their
talents and just have good fun.
Family activities will reflect on the lives
of children in other parts of the world where safety
and freedom are not automatic.
