HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED
Theme ‘Celebrating Children’ in the International Year of Forests and Chemistry

Imagine your children on their OWN special spot on the globe and
spinning out from that a demonstration of their concern for others locally and globally.

The possibilities are infinite:

   
Collect football boots to encourage newly arrived refugees to join in sport
Collect used clothes in good condition for the Red Cross or the various children’s organizations
Take children to visit elderly citizens in community care or invite those who are able to visit the children
Project on the history of forests
Find another school – communicate and support each other
Select a country which is relevant to your curriculum in Africa, India, South-East Asia or South America and find a project you would like to support on one of their websites

Use the Australian Government ‘s My Environment website to create a report about the environment around your local area.

Participate in the UNICEF Day for Change – visit www.unicef.org.au

Contact the local BankSA and enter artwork in the “Child Art Week” display 

Arrange activities to link with the themes of Children’s Week. Visit Global Education website for ideas:- www.globaleducation.edna.edu.au
Organise a special family fun day for parents and children to enjoy

Teddy Bear’s Picnic for neighbouring child care centres/kindergartens
‘Open House Day’ – opportunity to invite the community to see what you are doing for children
Hold an artwork and photographic exhibition at your local shopping centre around the theme related to children
