Young Australians - their origins and stories reaching from here across the world - are

the fresh glow of our modern nation.

 

Everywhere, and in so many ways, children touch our lives.

 

As parents, grandparents, extended family, healers, teachers, mentors, friends - as

participants in everyday life - we know the duty we owe them.

 

In caring for them, we learn what it takes to care for a nation and a world. What we

show our children now prepares them to carve out a future.

 

As patron of the Children's Week Council of Australia, I feel assured and inspired by

the work you do in supporting the rights, needs and accomplishments of children and

young people, and in helping to preserve a strong, capable and hopeful Australia.
